Political Factoid

The Catholic Church is very
strongly opposed to embryonic
stem-cell research.
However, NBC news
reports that the Catholic
Church has given its blessing
and some of the church's
money
to Neostem, a
company doing research
with Very Small
Embryonic-Like
(VSEL)*
cells, that are claimed to be
found in adult cells and
to behave just like embryos.
* Based upon a theory by Polish-born
researcher Mariusz Z. Ratajczak, now
on the faculty at the University of
Louisville.
