Political Factoid
When President Obama tried to
carry out his constitutional
responsibility of nominating
federal justices to fill vacancies,
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
accused the President of "packing
the courts."
Sen. Grassley had been one of the
GOP senators who had been steadily
eroding the federal justice system
by blocking replacement of the growing
number of court vacancies.
And then in 2016, Grassley helped Donald Trump
and Mitch McConnell filling the backlog
which they had created, with ultra-rightwing
(often unqualified) judges.
