Political Factoid
Cultural differences skew typical
statistical data, e.g., household income
averages, medians, etc.
and likewise for household wealth.
Compare:
- A culture where most households have
two parents and maybe a couple of
teenagers over the age of 15.
Classical American family "sterotype"
- A culture where large, multi-generation,
multi-families are prevalent
Many wage earners over age 15
in the same "household."
- Higher average household income
- Higher average household wealth
- A culture dominated by high numbers
of "broken homes," single parents with
small children, jobless teenagers, etc.
The absent parent living apart counts
as a separate "household" to the
statisticians.
End results are lower "household" average
income and lower average wealth.
- A culture of wealthy elite
where large family fortunes have been
passed down from generation to generation
- cumulative inheritances
- most current income from other than wages
